Monaco is a land of culture and creativity. With its symphony orchestra, opera and ballet companies, theatre and avant-garde facilities, the Principality has built an excellent reputation. One of the greatest cultural establishments of this country is considered to be Les Ballets de Monte Carlo - a classical ballet company established in 1985 by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover.
To mark its achievements Monaco Post has introduced a special stamp that StampNews.com is glad to introduce to your attention.
In 1985, the current Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo was born, thanks to the efforts of H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover, who wanted to continue the long tradition of dance in Monaco and its famous Ballets Russes. In 1993, the company took off on the international stage as a result of the choreographic works created by Jean-Christophe Maillot, which are renowned throughout the world. In 2000, he established the Monaco Dance Forum, an international dance festival in which the company regularly participates.
In 2011, under the chairmanship of H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo united three institutions: the Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Monaco Dance Forum and the Princess Grace Academy of Dance. Creation, outreach and training have now been brought together within a single structure in an unprecedented way, in the service of the art of choreography.
