This piece of info concerns the unique sheet of 15 1880-1881 Gambia 6d waterproof stamps that was sold for US$6,000.

A sheet of 15 1880-1881 Gambia 6d waterproof crown stamps was among the highlights of the Philatelic Collector's Series sale at Spink London on June 26. Spink & Son (established 1666) are an auction and collectibles company known principally for their sales of coins, banknotes, stock and bond certificates and medals. They also deal in philatelic items, wine and spirits, and other collectable items.

The sheets were printed in a run of 486. It realised £4,800 (US$6,283). It's one of only 486 such sheets printed and remains in fine condition despite its advanced age. It's marred only by a small patch of browning in the top right corner. Congratualtion to the new owner of such a unique philatelic item!
