StampNews.com got to know that Australian Post has released a special stamp issue showcasing the stunning scenery of four beautiful Australian islands. The islands featured are Phillip Island, Victoria; Lady Musgrave Island, Queensland; Bruny Island, Tasmania; and the Buccaneer Archipelago, Western Australia. The philatelic release consisting of four items was unveiled and put into circulation on the 27th of May,

Australia Post Philatelic Manager, Michael Zsolt said: "Australian landscapes are renowned for their natural beauty and diversity, drawing visitors from around the world. The Islands of Australia stamp designs capture those qualities and will appeal to Australians and tourists alike".

"Australia comprises more than 8,000 islands – this stamp issue presents four Australian islands, with a focus on showcasing their diverse and interesting terrain", Mr Zsolt said.

Designed by Jo Muré from the Australia Post Design Studio, the stamps include:

Phillip Island, Victoria: located just over 100 kilometres south of Melbourne. The stamp features the rugged and rocky Cape Woolamai, which offers beautiful views of the Pinnacles rock formation.

Lady Musgrave Island, Queensland: an uninhabited, coral cay located in the Great Barrier Reef and forms part of the Capricorn Cays National Park. The navigable lagoon featured on the stamp, boasts an abundance of coral, fish and turtles.

Bruny Island, Tasmania: located south of Hobart. North and South Bruny Islands are connected by an isthmus, known as The Neck, which is featured on the stamp. The isthmus provides a home to native wildlife and offers magnificent 360-degree views from Truganini's Lookout.

The Buccaneer Archipelago, Western Australia: the Archipelago is a spectacular collection of around 1,000 islands in a remote and pristine area off the Kimberley coast. Strong tidal movements create an amazing natural phenomena – the Horizontal Falls in Talbot Bay, which are featured on the stamp.
