StampNews.com is glad to inform that Jersey Post has prepared for releasing a special set of stamps celebrating the 25th anniversary of launching of the Hubble Space Telescope. The issue consists of eight stamps that are to be put into circulation on the 24th of April.

The Hubble Space Telescope was launched by NASA on 24th April 1990 attached to the Space Shuttle Discovery. The next day, Hubble was released into low Earth orbit, opening a new chapter in humanity's understanding of space. During its 25 years, Hubble has provided over one million observations, noted 38000 celestial targets and has circled Earth more than three billion times, travelling at a speed of 17,500 mph.

By orbiting outside the distortion of the Earth's atmosphere, it is able to capture images with almost no background light, making them the most visible images of space ever. Eight such images feature on the stamps within this commemorative issue which is accompanied by a Miniature Sheet featuring Hubble itself.
