Regularly Sweden Post issues portrait stamps of the King and the Queen. The last issue was in 2010, so it is once again time for these stamps. StampNews.com is glad to inform that King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia appeared on new Swedish stamps on the 15th of January.

As you know, King Carl XVI Gustaf’s motto is “For Sweden – With the Times”. The dialogue between the Swedish Court and PostNord about the design of the new stamps resulted in design and coloring that follows the King’s motto in an exciting and innovative way.

“I designed the stamp proofs to be partly without the white margin in order to fully utilize the printing technique and create a modern expression based on a classic design. Both of the stamps are printed with two nuances of the same color to achieve the same effect as that achieved by a monochrome engraved stamp”, says designer Daniel Bjugård.
