Alpina Elite ESK PRO competition cross-country ski boots are the result of fifteen-year collaboration between Studio Miklavc and Alpina and represent the fifth successful generation of one of the highest-profile Slovene products around the world.
StampNews.com is glad to introduce a new Slovenia stamp issue that depicts highly popular ski-shoes.
Although numerous experts from different fields were involved in the development of this generation of ski boots, the key roles were played by the following team: Robert Križnar (product manager/Alpina), Oton Žakelj (construction/Alpina), Jure Miklavc (product design/Studio Miklavc) and Silva Cimperman (product graphic design/Studio Miklavc).
The boots are designed to transfer the thrust of the leg to the ski in the most efficient manner possible – with the minimum loss of energy. Notable attributes include ergonomic volume adjustment, the right amount of flex, excellent torsional stability, ease of putting on and taking off, an innovative binding system and lightness. An important part of the design approach was the desire to come up with a product that is distinctive, attractive and imbued with the competitive spirit.
Alpina has a roughly 30% global market share in this segment and is used by many top competitors in World Championship and Olympic competitions. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, competitors using Alpina boots – among them the Slovene athletes Teja Gregorin and Vesna Fabijan – won a total of 12 Olympic medals.
