StampNews.com is glad to inform our readers that Slovenia has issued a new postage stamp to honor Postcrossing, a worldwide postcard exchange community. The popular hobby has over half a million members in 216 countries and is also a big hit in Slovenia, where fans eagerly anticipated this stamp release.
The Postcrossing community celebrated the launch of the Postcrossing stamp at the Maribor main Post Office on the 29th of May. The new stamp, created by design company Villa Creativa, depicts a person jumping for joy and a map of the world with lines connecting different places.
Paulo Magalhães, who started the Postcrossing project in 2005 commented: "It's a real honor for us that the Postcrossing community has been deemed of such a high distinction by Slovenian Post. I'm very pleased to see this stamp come to live ‒ especially since Slovenia is one of my favorite countries!"
Also Darko Lončarič, from Pošta Slovenije's philatelic department said: "By issuing a special stamp, Pošta Slovenije expresses its support for the project and wishes all users many more enjoyable moments as they continue to exchange postcards".
The Slovenian stamp has already become a real hit among postcrossers and collectors from around the world.
