StampNews.com would like to introduce a special stamp booklet issued by Russian Post on occasion of the centenary of the beginning of the First World War. The philatelic release was unveiled and put into circulation on the 12th of December.

The First World War is one of the most large-scale armed conflicts in the history of mankind. The immediate cause of the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria by terrorist Gavrilo Princip on the 28th of June 1914 in Sarajevo.

Opponents of the war have become the state of the Entente (Russian Empire, France, UK) and the countries of the Quadruple Alliance (Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria).
