Miss World 2013 featured on stamp

The Philippine Postal Corporation will publicize the First Filipina Miss World, Megan Lynne Young on stamps and souvenir sheet.

In a ceremonial launch at the Post Office Building, Miss World 2013 Megan Young personally unveiled her framed stamp and signed souvenir sheets and stamps that spectators and collectors purchased.

According to Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz, Miss World 2013 Megan's triumph is very much deserving of a place in the roster of PHLPost stamps not only because of her sheer beauty but mainly because of her undeniable charm and will to win the pageant for her fellow Filipinos.

Megan Young was named Miss World Philippines 2013 during the pageant's coronation night on August 18, 2013. Young was crowned Miss World 2013 in Bali Indonesia, making her the first Filipina to win the title of Miss World since its creation in 1951.

During the preliminaries, she also won the "Top Model" completion, placed fourth in the "Multimedia Challenge" and fifth in the "Beach Beauty" contest. Young also received the Continental Queen of Beauty title as Miss World Asia 2013, the highest-ranked contestant in the Asian region. As Miss World 2013, Young will be based in England for her activities; she has so far travelled to France, the Philippines, United States, Haiti and China. Young is expected to visit 40 countries for charity work after her brief stay in the Philippines for the Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) relief efforts. Miss World's Beauty with a Purpose organization decided to direct their fund raising activities for the victims of the typhoon by going to different locations around the world. Megan Young finally arrived in the Philippines in November 27, 2013. In her second day in the country, Young went to the areas heavily affected by the typhoon and distributed the relief together with the Philippine Red Cross. She particularly visited the province of Leyte, Samar and Iloilo.
