According to info got by StampNews.com, Mexico Post issued a commemorative postage stamp to celebrate and recognize those who defend the country from fire with courage and self-sacrifice.
The general director of the Mexican Postal Service, Yuriria Mascott, said the Heroic Fire Department is one of the most recognized institutions for the society because of the important work carried out with great professionalism and dedication.
Yuriria Mascott added that firefighters are a powerful symbol of courage, solidarity, discipline and commitment.
At the official ceremony of stamp cancellation the stamp was released. The ceremony was held in the Bartolomé Gallotti the Postal Palace. It takes place every August 22 – the Day of Firefighter. On that date 1873 the first Fire Department of the country, the Port of Veracruz was founded.
