France Poste issued a special stamp commemorating the Spring Philatelic Show and the French city of Macon holding the event from Friday, 5 of April to Sunday, 7 of April, 2013.
Capital of the department of Saone-et-Loire, Macon was founded nearly two centuries BC. The city of art and history, it boasts diverse sights as the apothecary of the Hotel-Dieu, the wooden house built in the 1500s, the Museum of Fine Arts (former Ursuline Convert), the Bridge Saint-Laurent, The Old Saint-Vincent or the Hotel des Postes which opened its doors in 1914 on the eve of the war. Today with nearly 35 000, Macon is the fifth largest city in Burgundy.
