Ten people with a Jersey connection are known to have been on board RMS Titanic on her maiden voyage although the figure does vary. The precise number has always been difficult to define due to the confusion on the night, the passage of time and because most of the passengers were from the lower classes meaning that few, if any, details were noted.
Three who were passengers were all women, one of whom, Bertha Ilett, was resident in the island prior to the voyage. Of the seven known Jersey crewmen, only four survived.
The £3 stamp is valid for use on larger items of post and is eagerly awaited by stamp collectors throughout the world; it is accompanied by a Presentation Pack and First Day Cover envelope both of which include informative text.
