90th Anniversary of the Discovery of Insulin stamp from France

The French Post has issued a gummed stamp printed in photogravure to mark the 90th anniversary of the discovery of insulin as a medicine.

Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas, discovered for the first time as hypoglycemic drug in 1921. It diminishes the rate of glucose (simple sugar) in the blood. The lack of its production by the organism causes diabetes.
