New stamps a real show stopper

This issue of five stamps highlights the agriculture and royal shows that form part of the Australian calendar each year.

Every year millions of Australians attend shows to enjoy the activities and exhibits put on by agricultural societies around the country.

The shows host a variety of activities and play an important role in educating Australia's increasingly urbanised population about the country.

The 5 x 55c stamps feature a prize bull, cake decorating, horse competition, wood chopping and a dog show. The stamps were illustrated by Sydney-based illustrator Stuart McLachlan, who previously designed the 2009 Inventive Australia stamp issue.

This stamp issue presents a delightful limited-edition prestige first day cover complete with show magnet and blue foiled postmark.
