International Holocaust Remembrance Day Stamp

Israel has issued a special stamp marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The stamp was awarded to the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, at a moving ceremony at his offices in the United Nations building in New York.

This historic occasion was attended by Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Public Diplomacy, Mr. Yoel Yuli Edelstein; Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Ms. Gabriella Shalev; Deputy Ambassador, Mr. Danny Carmon; CEO, Israel Postal Company, Mr. Avi Hochman; Mr. Yaron Razon, Director of the Israel Philatelic Service and artist Karen Gillerman whose photograph is the basis for the design of the stamp.

Mr. Avi Hochman said that this stamp is the second in a series of stamps marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, joining the tremendous commemorative effort regarding the most tragic historical event in the history of the Jewish people and of humanity as a whole.
