San Marino to issue stamps honoring Mediterranean Games

The Mediterranean Games are a multi-sports event hosting countries from the Mediterranean Basin. The first Games were held in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1951, and were officially recognised in Helsinki in 1952.

From the 26th June to the 5th July, 2009, Pescara will host the 16th Mediterranean Games. This philatelic set issued to commemorate the event, depicts simply sketched figures, which single out and interpret movement, physical effort and competitive tension.
