Tourism in France: ‘Sables d’Olonne

This stamp is dedicated to the city of Sables-d'Olonne, sub-prefecture of the department Vendee.

Sables-d'Olonne has been always a city living in the beat of sea. In the XV century it was announced the principal port of the country. The city became the first cod port of France in the XVII century and the first sardine port during the XIX century.

Today the city's popularity is basically related to the regatta Vendee Globe.
