Modern Art in Austria – Hermann Nitsch

"My work is meant to be a school of life, of perception and of sensitization." This is the basic approach that characterises Hermann Nitsch's artistic production, which is to be the focus of the largest public exhibition of the artist's works to date in the new Hermann Nitsch Museum from 23 May 2007. The opening of the museum constitutes the opening of the first completed stage of the new Mistelbach Museum Centre that is being built on the site of the former Heger plough factory.

Nitsch's works are not only to be presented but will also be the subject of academic research and documentation, revealing the interdisciplinary overlaps and influences resulting from his complex creative activity, the "orgies and mysteries theatre."
