Royal Mail will issue a set of stamps and miniature sheet to commemorate the 60th wedding anniversary (on 20 November) of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The Diamond Wedding anniversary stamp issue comprises of six gummed showing HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at a number of formal occasions while the Miniature sheet is composed of four stamps showing a variety of informal Royal Family shots and an exclusive new photograph of HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh by Lord Snowdon.
The self-adhesive Miniature sheet is a first for Royal Mail stamps. The four stamps are designed to look like four photographs randomly scattered on top of a pile of other Royal photos. The backing paper is also printed with yet more Royal photographs.
The presentation pack contains all six stamps and the Miniature sheet. Inside Jim Davies tells the story of Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten's wedding day. Designed by Studio David Hillman the pack is illustrated with contemporary photography. The Miniature sheet is housed in its own specially designed separate carrier.
The Royal Mail First Day Cover insert features a photograph of the happy couple returning to Buckingham Palace from Westminster Abbey in the Glass Coach. The same First Day Cover envelope and filler card will be used for the Miniature sheet.
