Fancy calligraphy that adorned letters during the 1700s and 1800s appears on two "Our Wedding" special stamps dedicated Wednesday by the U.S. Postal Service in New York City.
The "Love" series stamps, created by artist Michael Osborne of Berkeley, Calif., for mailing wedding invitations and RSVPs, are available in two formats.
The $20.40 combination booklet contains 40 self-adhesive stamps -- 20 with the 39-cent denomination for mailing a 1-ounce first-class letter and 20 stamps valued at 63 cents, the rate for a 2-ounce letter.
The $7.80 convertible booklet has 20 stamps with the 39-cent rate.
The stamp designs, the USPS said, picture "a white dove, the time-honored symbol of peace, love and fidelity, and a heart, surrounded by calligraphic flourishes set against a lavender background" for the 39-cent stamp. The 63-cent version is light green.
