Iceland: Europa 2005

The common theme of the Europa stamps is gastronomy according to the decision of PostEurop, the Association of European Public Postal Operators in Europe. Food is probably the most important ingredient of human culture. Cuisine and all things related to food and gastronomic traditions shape the nature, history, technical knowledge, social patterns and economy of human society. The Europa stamps are of unusual design, shaped as plates of food stuffed with traditional Icelandic fish and meat dishes.
