On your bike! Slovak stamp to honor paralympian

A new stamp is to be issued in Slovakia on 31st March in order to commemorate the late paralympic cyclist Radovan Kaufman who died from cancer in 2003.

The stamp has been issued in Kaufman's honor and is also intended to raise awareness for the "On wheels against cancer" campaign taking place in Slovakia. Fundraisers are invited to use bicycles instead of cars in order to raise money for Wave System equipment which is seen as vital in the fight against cancer.

Kaufman enjoyed great success by winning events at the 1998 World Championship and 2000 Sydney Olympics whilst breaking world records. He lost his fight against cancer on 19th June 2003 at the age of just 25.
