The Christian world for centuries has been celebrating Christmas on December 25th, the birth of Jesus Christ that comes to the world as a little baby in the arms of the Virgin Mary and saint Joseph. Christmas is a day of love, simplicity and modesty. God himself is born as a little baby not to scare people away, but to attract them to himself. Christians believe how the immortal God has become a mortal man in order for him to bring people to the heavenly Kingdom. His birth in poverty and uncertainty is encouragement for Christians to continue Jesus’ actions amongst people. Every year, Christmas reminds Christians about renewing human values in a joyous manner.

In the beginning, Christians held the day of Jesus’ birth as the beginning of a new year, and only in 1691 the Church accepted January 1rst as the beginning of a new year. Today seeing off the old year and the beginning of the new one is celebrated in similar ways throughout the world. With delight, congratulations and best wishes that the new year is even better than the old one.
