Albert Einstein is one of the most recognized and well-known scientists of the century. His theories solved centuries-old problems in physics and rocked even non-physicists' view of the world.

To commemorate this genius and underline its significant scientific contribution Jersey Post released four special stamps that StampNews.com is glad to introduce to our readers.

Albert Einstein, the German-born theoretical physicist who was marked with this special stamp isuue, revolutionised physics by introducing the concept that the force of gravity can in fact be described in geometrical terms as the curvature of space-time. His theory of general relativity, built upon his previously published theory of special relativity, explains the motion of galaxies, the physics of black holes and the bending of light from distant stars and galaxies.

Considered to be one of the towering achievements of 20th century physics, Einstein submitted his paper The Foundation of the General Theory of Relativity on March 20, 1916. It was published on May 11, 1916 giving a full overview of the final version of the general theory of relativity after its latest revisions as published in four papers during November 1915.

The embodiment of genius, eccentricity and free-thinking, Albert Einstein continues to inspire scientists, philosophers and students around the world. With a colossal impact on science and technology of the 20th and 21st centuries, he remains an icon symbolising the power of intellectual exploration and inspiration to millions. Personality rights of ALBERT EINSTEIN are used with permission of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Represented exclusively by Corbis. Official licensed merchandise.
