StampNews.com is glad to inform the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) revealed the four (4) winning entries for this year's culinary icon's Stamp Design Competition based on the theme – Teresita "Mama Sita" Reyes, championing Philippine Flavors to the World.
"We take pride in presenting the winning designs made by talented young Filipino artists who will help propagate the legacy of culinary icon Teresita "Mama Sita" Reyes through a series of postage stamps to be issued by PHLPost on this occasion", Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz said.
The following young artists namely : Emmanuel D. Emnace of Binangonan Rizal (untitled entry), Chi Panistante, Dubai, U.A.E. (Deep Pride), Evan Titus Paul Labrador, Los Banos Laguna (Tapestry), and Charity Rico Dultra of Bacoor, Cavite (Suot-suot ang lasang nanunuot sa bawat Pinoy (at may pusong Pinoy) presented their winning artworks to PMG Josie Dela Cruz and the Philippine Stamp Committee, composed of members coming from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA), and the Philippine Philatelic Federation (PPF). The said committee approves the issuance of stamps before it gets into printing.
The winning designs shall become part of the third installment of the five-year series of stamps to be issued by PHLPost, which will end in 2017 on the occasion of Mama Sita’s 100th birth anniversary.
The stamp series immortalized Mama Sita and her pursuit of bringing Filipino cuisine to the international stage.
Mama Sita was born in Manila on May 11, 1917, the eldest daughter of restaurateurs who founded the Aristocrat chain.
After her children grew up, she regularly traveled around the world to learn various cuisines, and decided Filipino cuisine is among the best.
