StampNews.com got to know that Vellore Collector R. Nanthagopal released child welfare stamps valued at Rs. 2 each at a function got up by the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW).

Ravishankarnath, Personal Assistant (Development) to the Collector, received the stamps.

The Collector hailed the activities of the ICCW in organising various child welfare activities, especially its role in rescuing child labourers in and around Vellore, enrolling them in school and rehabilitating the parents of former child labourers.

Thilagavathy Ramiah, honorary secretary of ICCW, Vellore district, who welcomed the gathering, said that the district unit of ICCW had procured two lakh stamps of value of Rs. 2 each from the Tamil Nadu State branch for sale this year.

The sale proceeds of the stamps would accrue to the account of the ICCW, Vellore district, under the control of the District Collector and ex officio president of the district unit.

The amount collected through the sale of stamps would be utilised for various child welfare activities in the district. A sum of Rs. 4 lakh was collected through sale of child welfare stamps last year, she said.

M. Vijayakumar, District Information and Public Relations Officer, conducted the proceedings. Sangameswari Pattabhiraman, honorary treasurer of ICCW, Vellore proposed a vote of thanks.
