On the 11th of March 2015, Lithuania Post will celebrate its 25th anniversary of independence. StampNews.com got to know that Lithuania Post released a new postage stamp to mark this occasion. The item was unveiled and put into circulation on the 7th of March.

The postage stamp designed by the artist Domantas Vildžiūnas features an Act on the Restoration of an Independent State of Lithuania. The postage stamp has a nominal value of EUR 0.84. Edition – 200 thousand copies.

On March 11, 1990, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania signed the Act on the Restoration of an Independent State of Lithuania saying that the execution of the sovereign powers of the State of Lithuania abolished by foreign forces in 1940 is re-established, and henceforth Lithuania is again an independent state.

The Act gives a reference to the Act of Independence of 16 February 1918 which has never lost its legal effect. The Act was signed by Vytautas Landsbergis, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania, and other Council members.
