Special “gold printing” Malaysia’s stamps are to be sold to collectors

For the first time in Pos Malaysia's history of more than 200 years, it has utilized "gold printing" for each stamp worth 60sen, 80sen and RM1.20 to commemorate the enthronement of the Sultan of Perak. According to info got by StampNews.com these stamps will become available for purchasing soon.

"Gold ink has a distinction that Pos Malaysia has never used before", said Pos Malaysia's acting chief executive officer Azlan Shahrim.

He said Pos Malaysia Berhad will start selling special stamps and philatelic collections in conjunction with the enthronement of Sultan Nazrin Shah as the XXXV (35th) Sultan of Perak this Thursday.

Azlan said the stamps featured portraits of Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim.

He was speaking to reporters after the launching of the exhibition of picture collections, first day covers and "Buku Hikayat Misa Melayu" in conjunction with the XXXV (35th) Sultan of Perak's Enthronement Ceremony, by Sultan Nazrin at the Ipoh Town Hall today.

Besides that, he said, Pos Malaysia would sell miniature sheets at RM5, and empty envelopes at 50 sen, while the folder which consists of an envelope and miniature sheet would cost RM5.50.

He said 400,000 copies of 60 sen stamps, and 250,000 copies each of the 80 sen and RM1.20 had been printed.

He said Sultan Nazrin was satisfied with the design and image on the stamps selected by him during his visit to the Pos Malaysia booth.

"Stamps are not only bought by stamp collectors but also by professionals, students and the people of Perak, who like to collect stamps because it gives meaning", he said.
