According to info got by StampNews.com Vatican Post is to release a special philatelic issue celebrating the upcoming Easter. This year the Philatelic Office will celebrate Easter with a minisheet of four values. As in the past, the stamps depict a detail of the Resurrection, but this time taken from a work by the unknown Master of the Crucifix of Trevi found in the Pinacoteca of the Vatican Museums. The issue is to be put into circulation on the 19th of February.

Our Lord Jesus Christ exits the tomb holding in hand the standard which symbolizes his victory over death, while the sleeping guards at the entrance to the sepulcher mark the separation between the earthly and divine realities.

Easter is the primary solemnity of the Catholic Church. These words of Pope Francis can help us appreciate why: "This is the culmination of the Gospel, it is the Good News par excellence: Jesus, who was crucified, is risen! This event is the basis of our faith and our hope. If Christ were not raised, Christianity would lose its very meaning; the whole mission of the Church would lose its impulse, for this is the point from which it first set out and continues to set out ever anew.

The message which Christians bring to the world is this: Jesus, Love incarnate, died on the cross for our sins, but God the Father raised him and made him the Lord of life and death. In Jesus, love has triumphed over hatred, mercy over sinfulness, goodness over evil, truth over falsehood, life over death". For Christians, this must always be a feast marked by joy, since it is the realization of the promise of Jesus Christ.
