For a month, Lithuania Post has been waiting for children drawings on the theme The Stamp – the Mirror of the World. According to info received by stampNews.com the most beautiful drawings sent to Lithuania Post on the occasion of the company‘s 96th anniversary are being exhibited at Vilnius Main Post Office.
"Every year, when celebrating the birthday of Lithuania Post, we are inviting children and the youth to get involved into the activities of Lithuania Post. This year we invited schoolchildren to share their views on postage stamps.
The number of drawings and their quality shows that Lithuanian pupils are brilliant, diligent, and capable to participate in stamp design contests arranged by Lithuania Post. Even the most complicate topics are revealed with playfulness and creativity", Head of Marketing and Communication Department of Lithuania Post Rasa Kruopaitė-Lalienė said.
Two thousand drawings from almost 150 Lithuanian secondary and art schools, progymnasiums and gymnasiums have been presented for the contest. Klaipėda, Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Druskininkai, Šiauliai, and Mažeikiai can be singled out as the most active cities.
According to Mrs Kruopaitė-Lalienė, younger pupils were active as usual. Less works have been presented by pupils from higher grades, but their works are exclusive for creative ideas, harmony in colours, and diligence.
Children wish the stamps to feature landscapes, city views, animals, birds, views from daily life, and pets – things from their close and familiar environment.
Also, the company has received works featuring the views and objects from the stamp design contest: old crafts, the euro introduction in Lithuania, mammals (the otter), old toys, fashion, Lithuanian bridges, the 500th anniversary of Mikalojus Radvila Juodasis, the 250th birth anniversary of M. K. Oginskis, Christmas and New Year.
The exhibition will be open to the public at Vilnius Main Post Office until December 12.
