The grand opening of the World Scout Bureau Kuala Lumpur Office was celebrated and commemorated by Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) through the release of special commemorative stamps and other philatelic products with the date of issue on Wednesday, 18th June.
"This is truly a great recognition and a boost to Malaysia and we at Pos Malaysia would like to take this opportunity to stamp the historic grand opening of the World Scout Bureau Kuala Lumpur Office by issuing special commemorative stamps and other philatelic products like first day cover and folder. We urge the public, especially stamp collectors to head over to the nearest Pos Malaysia outlet on the first day of its opening of sale i.e. on Thursday, 19th June as we expect the issue to get a rousing welcome," said a Pos Malaysia's spokesperson.
The Secretariat for the World Organization of the Scout Movement acts as the main body for scouts around the world, assisting in various organizational functions and the World Scout Bureau Office is the administrative body of the movement. It has 200 member countries and territories and about 40 million registered members. The Scouts Association of Malaysia has about 61,000 registered members to date.
The stamp collection features 20 pieces of stamps per sheet each measuring 50mm x 30mm in size and are printed on SPM Watermarked, Phosphor Coated Paper. They are available in three designs featuring the World Scout Bureau Kuala Lumpur Office, World Scouting and World Scout Bureau which will be sold at RM0.60, RM0.50 and RM0.30 each respectively.
First Day Cover is available on the first day of the stamp issuance at 50 sen each and can be purchased at all Pos Malaysia Outlets nationwide. First Day Cover complete with the stamp sets is available at RM1.90. Meanwhile, folder is available at RM6.00 each and is sold only at selected post outlets.
