Recently in the USA a new stamp has been introduced. It depicts the image of legendary Hollywood person and humanitarian Charlton Heston. This famous man was honored as the 18th inductee into the U.S. Postal Service’s Legends of Hollywood stamp series on 11-th of April. This event came about during the well-known TCM Classic Film Festival.

According to the info of an interview, studied by StampNews.com, the Governor of the head Post office said that this person was worth to be placed on the one of USA stamps therefore he had strong believes and was never afraid to stand up for his convictions, one of which was a strong belief in civil rights.

A lot of people called Charlton Heston the true follower of Martin Luther King. Charlton Heston won Oscar for "Ben-Hur", he also received the Motion Picture Academy's Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.

StampNews.com found that the design of a stamp itself was created by art director Greg Breeding of Charlottesville. The stamp features a color portrait of the actor when he acted as Drew Struzan of Pasadena in a popular movie. The Post office reported that this photo had been taken by the wife of a well-known actor. The long-awaited stamp is also adorned with another shot of the actor from the 1959 movie Ben-Hur. Originally this photo was in black and white, but later was colorized by skillful master. At this picture Heston is shown wearing his costume from the film’s monumental chariot racing scene.

It is said that Charlton Heston stamp will be issued as a Forever® stamp this year.
