The Post of the Republic of Belarus issued the souvenir sheet "Biotopes of Belarus. Bogs."
A biotope is an area of uniform environmental conditions providing living space for a specific assemblage of plants and animals. Presented on the souvenir sheet is a raised bog biotope. A convexly raised surface is a characteristic of a raised bog. The top layer of a raised bog has no connection with the mineral soil, so it is exclusively moistened by rainwater. In Belarus raised bogs are most common in Vitebsk region. They are the main sources of cranberries.
