Poczta Polska issued a new souvenir sheet commemorating "Tall Ships' Races Szczecin 2013". No doubt, this stamp would be appreciated by the Ship theme collectors.
The Tall Ships Races are an annual tall ships regatta, which is organized by the Sail Training International. The ultimate goal that the regatta pursues is the "sail training" – education of young people and the development of essential life skills on tall ships.
Pursuant to STI regulations, half of the crew on each ship must consist of the youth from 15 to 25 years of age.
One month cruise on the Baltic Sea, four ports called at and the great final in Szczecin.
This is how the Tall Ships Races 2013 look like in brief. What is the route of the sailing ships? The first place where the boats berthed was the Danish port, Aarhus (4-7 July).
Afterwards, the vessels sailed to the capital of Finland – Helsinki (17-20 July). The last stop on their way to Szczecin was Riga in Latvia (25-28 July). And then, finally – all ships are following the azimuth to get to Szczecin(3-6 August), their main port of destination which once again (after the year 2007) will be in the inner centre of the sailing world. Clearly, it will be a major event in the history of Szczecin. It is not surprising that Mr. Bronislaw Komorowski, the President of Republic of Poland took the Honorary Patronage over Tall Ships Races 2013 in Szczecin.
