Isle of Man Post Office celebrated the 100th Tour de France with a set of eight stamps, capturing the truly unique spirit and history of Le Tour.
This year, 2013, marks the 100th edition of the Tour de France - the world's biggest annual sporting event and widely regarded as the toughest endurance test in sport.
In the selection of legends of the sport within the current issue are national heroes and the selection covers Belgium, Spain, Great Britain and, naturally, France.
The Isle of Man is currently enjoying a golden period of cycling excellence, with Mark Cavendish's achievements rightly celebrated and a crop of young Manx riders striving to follow his example. Perhaps less well-known is that, for more than fifty years, Isle of Man International Cycling Week attracted a long list of Tour de France riders including Coppi, Anquetil, Merckx, Simpson, Fignon and Roche.
Mark Cavendish - the first, and so far only, Manx rider to compete in the Tour - has 23 stage wins at the time of writing.
