The National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores (ANTAD) was created in 1983 with a commitment to promote the development and modernity of retailers and their suppliers as well as to raise social responsibility in the economy market.
Throughout these thirty years ANTAD has built an organization with a solid foundation and has encouraged investment and job creation.
Now ANTAD offers different store formats, wide range of products, shopping opportunities and services that simplify and enhance the lifestyle of consumer. Currently ANTAD consists of 103 chain stores, of which 37 are self-service stores, 18 departmental and 48 specialized, representing 32.131 establishments with more than 23 million square meters of sales floor. ANTAD commercial organizations have a presence throughout the country's urban world, offering consumers the benefit of acquiring products with reliable quality and affordable prices.
To mark the 30th anniversary of the ANTAD, the Mexican Postal Service, Correos de Mexico, issued a stamp on which the symbols of ANTAD daily work are embodied: the shopping cart, the paper bag from a department stores and cubes through which specialty of stores is identified in Mexico.
