La Poste issued two stamps within the international stamp issue EUROPA 2013 dedicated to postal vehicles.

The stamps illustrate an engraving of the new mail coach (sedan version) of 1837 (based on the lithograph inspired by Victor Adam 1801-1866) and the modern Kangoo ZE.

In 1837 the Postal Administration of France introduced a new type of vehicle, heavily inspired by the English mail coaches. Antoine Conte, then Postmaster General, attempted it on the way to Marseille, then adopted in June 1838. The new vehicle was available in two versions: "sedan" with 4 places or "coupe" with 3 places, it was equipped with a spacious passenger compartment, a large trunk for letters, a seat for the coachman, and most importantly, a rear convertible for mail.

La Post supplied its postmen with 10,000 electric cars Kengoo ZE, which are to be deployed by 2015 for the collection and distribution of mail throughout the country. Three goals should be obtained by La Poste with such modernization: becoming the benchmark for urban logistics manager, a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions per household served and improvement of the living conditions of the postmen.

The Kangoo ZE is built by Renault and has a range of 70km in ZIP optimal use, a load capacity of 3 m3 and a payload of 650kg. With zero tailpipe emissions, it is of great comfort and proposes a solution of clean urban freight transport.
