Australia Post's latest stamp release features five paintings drawn from the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Australia (NGA). In this second issue in the Gallery Series, the five stamps show landscapes by some of Australia's most well-known painters.

Landscapes have long been a favourite subject of artists, and this stamp issue features John Glover's "Mr Robinson's house on the Derwent, Van Diemen's Land" (1838), Nicholas Chevalier's "Studley Park at sunrise" (1861), Eugene von Guerard's "Dandenong Ranges from Beleura" (1870), Arthur Streeton's "Land of the Golden Fleece" (1926) and Hans Heysen's "In the Flinders – Far North" (1951).

Below StampNews.com quotes the words by Australia Post Philatelic Manager Michael Zsolt as regards the issued stamps: "We trust this stamp issue will remind all Australians of the significant contribution these well-known artists have made to Australia's understanding of itself and to the artistic heritage of the nation".
