Japanese post issues stamps to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the local government law. They are issued in association with the commemorative coins which are to be sequentially released from each of the 47 prefectures. The stamps of the collection traditionally depict culture, nature and history of the selected prefecture to attract tourists. The twenty eighth series is dedicated to Gunma prefecture. The stamps of the series depict:
R837a – Tomioka Silm Mill and a female worker;
R837b – Rhododendron molle subsp. Japonicum
R837c – Usui 3rd Railway Bridge
R837d – Fukiware Falls
R837e – Nozorikisuge
