The Tunisian Post has issued a postage stamp on the occasion of the 25th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), held from September 24 to October 15, 2012 in Doha, Qatar. The stamp illustrates the globe decorated with the logo of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in a circular motion to indicate the interaction between all nations in service to the postal sector considered one of the pillars of global economic cycle.
The conference is organized with the participation of 191 countries and aims to take a series of important decisions to ensure a number of objectives including:
- Improvement of the interoperability of international postal service in order to ensure efficient and effective operation;
- Providing technical knowledge and expertise concerning the postal sector;
- Promoting innovative products and services with the aim of countering the decline of traditional Post;
- Promoting sustainable development of the postal sector which must be interpreted in the broadest sense of the sustainable development, which includes economic, social and environmental aspects.
