04.07.2012
This special issue commemorates 150th birthday of Gustav Klimt, an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement.
Klimt’s most successful works include The Kiss (1907-08) and a series of portraits of fashionable Viennese matrons, such as Frau Fritza Riedler (1906) and Frau Adele Bloch-Bauer (1907).
Gustav Klimt’s “Fritza Riedler” featured on this stamp is an example of his portrait painting that was popular among the wealthy.
