In April, 100 years will have passed since the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank. 231 of the total of 2207 persons on board the Titanic were of Nordic descent. Three of the passengers that drowned came from Aland.

On 16 April, Aland Post will be issuing a stamp commemorating the catastrophe. At the same time, the stamp is a joint issue with the Belgian Post which is also issuing a stamp commemorating the sinking of the Titanic.

Appearing on the day of the Aland issue is a joint commemorative card holding both the Belgian and the Aland stamps, cancelled with the respective first day cancels. The card costs €5.50.
