Cocos (Keeling) Islands Colours on Stamps

Cocos (Keeling) Islands Colours on Stamps

The living coral reefs of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands host a huge variety of marine life. This stamp issue gives us a close-up look at this marine wonderland through the photography of Cocos (Keeling) Islands resident Karen Willshaw.

Pulu Keeling National Park is located within the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, and was proclaimed in December 1995. It is Australia's sixth and smallest Commonwealth National Park and includes the 1.2 square-km land area of North Keeling Island and a marine area extending 1.5km around the island. Named after Captain William Keeling, the island has not been inhabited for any continuous period and is in a natural state.
