Vietnam has issued a stampset commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the death of Ernest Hemingway.
Ernest Miller Hemingway (1899 - 1961) was an American novelist, a short story writer and a journalist. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 with his novel "The Old Man and the Sea" and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954.
His novels were published and became a phenomenon in Hanoi in the 1960s.
Hemingway is the second American (after Norman Morrison, 1965) and the third foreign writer (after Maxim Gorky of Russia, 1968 and Rabindranath Tagore of India, 1982) featured on Vietnamese stamps.
