A postage stamp with a portrait of the world's first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin has been released in Russia.
It continues the jubilee stamp series marking the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight.
Yuri Gagarin ushered in a new era in mankind's efforts to reach for the stars, the Russian Postal Service said in a statement.
On April 12, 1961 Gagarin performed the space flight abroad the Vostok-1 spacecraft orbiting earth in 108 minutes and landed safely at Smevolka region.
After the flight, Yuri Gagarin was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, and 12 April was proclaimed World Day of Aviation and Astronautics.
The United Nations also declared this day as International Day of Human Space Flight.
