Magyar Posta is marking the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation by issuing a commemorative stamp. On the day the stamp is released the prestigious national thematic stamp exhibition called the 15th TEMAFILA 2010 BUDAPEST will start at the National Federation of Hungarian Philatelists.
In the upper part of the stamp there is a gymnast performing a typical movement during a routine on the pommel horse with outlines creating an impression of the whole series of movements. Below this are seven pictograms of all the disciplines of men's and women's artistic gymnastics (floor exercise, vault, rings, parallel bars, high bar, beam and asymmetric bars). The main motif of the first day cover for the stamp captures an exciting moment from the 1934 world championship held at the Beszkart stadium in Budapest. The cover is also adorned with the Federation's logo from the time of its foundation as well as its present day logo. The graphic design of the commemorative postmark is a stylised version of the Gymnastics Federation's 1885 logo.
