In an official First Day of Issue Ceremony held at the Javits Convention center, the United States Postal Service unveiled a new stamp during the National Stationery Show. The new 64-cent butterfly stamp is designed to be used with the square and oversized envelopes that are popular with greeting cards and invitations and require extra postage.

The ceremony was the culmination of a collaboration between the USPS and the Greeting Card Association.
