New San Marino – Japan Joint Issue

This souvenir sheet is made up of four stamps. The stamp on the upper left hand side depicts the First Tower and the bust by Vittorio Pochini "La Repubblica" (The Republic), on the right is the Japanese castle, Himeji; on the bottom left the stamp depicts the painting by Emilio Retrosi "The apparition of Saint Marinus to his people", and on the right, the painting Tokaido-Gojyusantugi "Nihonbashi in the Morning".

The sheet is completed by the flags of San Marino and Japan and by the paintings "Japanese woman" by Utaro Kitagawa and "St. Mary Magdalene" by Francesco Menzocchi.
