StampNews.com presents the third of five ratings which grades the most touching stamps of the year 2009.
Many of the top 10 most touching stamps of 2009 are dedicated to Christmas and winter vacation. Love and environmental protection have also become topics of some series.
Bananas on Swedish stamps
These stamps have a historical background (100 years since banana imports to Sweden began) and the concept is based on the characters being 'oldies'.
The yellow bodies and all the details of the banana figures have been modeled in a special clay fired at 130ºC. The fine details, such as the heart on the letter, were fired separately.
Christmas stamps from Portugal
The aim of this issue was to highlight the 2009 Christmas by offering the possibility to add a more personal touch to the Season's Greetings which families and organizations usually exchange around Christmas.
Christmas stamps from Aland
In October 2009, Aland Post issued two stamps showing images of Santa's little helpers and a brownie to celebrate Christmas.
The stamps were designed by Linn Dahiblom.

These stamps feature examples of the things you can get up to when snow covers the land like a soft white blanket.
The motifs were designed by Jens Hage.
#5. Hong Kong: special 'Heartwarming' stamp issue
In 2009, Hongkong Post released a set of Heartwarming stamps that blends the oriental and western themes of "Love & Care" and "Celebrations" into bright and colorful visuals to help you convey these feelings to your loved ones.
#6. Stamps send a message of action
In March 2009, Australia Post issued three stamps to mark Earth Hour 2009.
A now-global annual event, Earth Hour encourages people to switch off the lights to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
These specially designed stamps feature an owl, a possum and an orangutan.
#7. Turkish Mothers Celebrated With Stamps
In May 2009, Turkish Post released four special stamps for Mother's Day, celebrating the importance of Mothers and the relationship with their children.
#8. Cultural life in Belgium: Stamp festival
In March 2009, the Belgian post issued a stamp in honor of the stamp festival.
The stamp is dedicated to the vision of young people on the correspondence today.
#9. Irish Greetings stamps
In March, 2009, An Post issued two Greetings stamps.
They feature bright, colourful and light-hearted illustrations by Irish artist, Cathy Dineen.
The stamps show the fun and enjoyment associated with sending and receiving traditional and festive greetings by post. One stamp shows a little girl, assisted by her father, posting a card, and the other stamp shows the happy recipient.
#10. For Youth 2009: 150th Anniversary of Elek Benedek's Birth
In 2009, Hungary Post issued a special miniature sheet marking the 150th anniversary of the "great story teller", Elek Benedek.
The sheet features a portrait of the writer and the heroes of some of his stories – Puss in Boots, the Three Little Pigs, and the Diamond Penny.
