StampNews.com presents the third of five ratings which grades the most touching stamps of the year 2009.

Many of the top 10 most touching stamps of 2009 are dedicated to Christmas and winter vacation. Love and environmental protection have also become topics of some series.

These stamps have a historical background (100 years since banana imports to Sweden began) and the concept is based on the characters being 'oldies'.

The yellow bodies and all the details of the banana figures have been modeled in a special clay fired at 130ºC. The fine details, such as the heart on the letter, were fired separately.

They feature bright, colourful and light-hearted illustrations by Irish artist, Cathy Dineen.

The stamps show the fun and enjoyment associated with sending and receiving traditional and festive greetings by post. One stamp shows a little girl, assisted by her father, posting a card, and the other stamp shows the happy recipient.

In 2009, Hungary Post issued a special miniature sheet marking the 150th anniversary of the "great story teller", Elek Benedek.

The sheet features a portrait of the writer and the heroes of some of his stories – Puss in Boots, the Three Little Pigs, and the Diamond Penny.
