2009 marked the 40th anniversary of Guernsey's postal independence from the UK.
To commemorate the occasion a special set of stamps have been produced.
The stamps, by local designer Paul Mason-Barney, are based on the cultural evolution of the past 40 years with influences including the psychedelic 60s, The Sex Pistols, pop art, hip hop and science fiction.
The island's post office currently produce 12 special issues of stamps a year, eight Guernsey and four Alderney issues, aimed at combining subjects of local interest with the market of worldwide collectors.
